Geographic Information System of Municipality of Quilmes

Client:

Modern geoprocessing techniques for the collection, storage and exposure of geographic data were adopted for this project as a way to improve the management and control efficiency of geographic data and to provide greater agility in decision-making.

This project aimed to implement in the Municipality of Quilmes a modern and efficient Territorial Information System that would allow to manage graphic and alphanumeric information related to all rural and urban plots of the Party; this involved the adoption of modern geo-processing techniques for the collection, storage and exposure of geographic data as a way to improve efficiency in the management and control of geographic data and to provide greater agility in decision-making.

The task of consolidating and integrity of cadastral data from existing sources in both the Municipality and the General Directorate of Cadastre of the Province of Buenos Aires is also highlighted. It includes the provision of the Basic Software and Applications that guarantee the operation of the solution.

Extended Description:

Finally, a Training and Technical Assistance Plan was carried out on the staff of the Municipality that ensured an adequate technological transfer and the autonomy necessary to manipulate the solution in the subsequent stage of evolution.

Key Technologies Involved

The applications form an integrated system developed to process in real time all movements in the relational database resident in a central server that users will access through standard Internet browsers.

Applications are developed with Microsoft .Net technology.

Data from all subsystems resides in this ORACLE relational database, using ORACLE Spatial for geographic information management and accessing it through FDO with routines developed on .Net resident on the server.

Geographic features for each of the subsystems are built with Web Application Technology, MapGuide, and Autodesk TM Autodesk MAP 3D,TMwhere you can digitize or maintain entire thematic layers by leveraging AutoCAD’s graphics element processing facilities.
